An entertaining and informative program funded by the Horizons Speakers Bureau of the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, a state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities, will be presented by speaker Daisy Nelson Century on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM at OCHS.

In 1921 Bessie Coleman became the first African-American woman to earn a pilot’s license. She traveled to France to learn to fly when American flight schools refused her because of her race.  She shared her experiences with children, encouraging them with the words, “you too can fly.”
